Project Pillowcase: Strip Piecing
This four-session class is part traditional sewing, part beginning quilting, part community service/awareness, and 100% FUN!! Don’t underestimate the humble pillowcase…this class will focus on foundational sewing skills, basic quilting techniques, constructing traditional quilt block patterns in combination with traditional sewing techniques (suitable for apparel sewing), & getting the creative juices flowing. Cheri will show you different options for seam finishes & band attachment (French, burrito, etc). She will discuss pre-cuts, as you learn strip piecing techniques. And she will provide FREE patterns, along with construction alternatives. Finally, this class will provide opportunities to donate your pillowcases to various local non-profits, although this is optional. (Community service hours may be available to high school students.) Students must be able to thread their own machines, & machines must be in good working order. Supply list provided upon registration.
