Quilting Technique Toolbox: Taking the Mystery out of Setting Triangles
Led by Helene Knott
When you place blocks on point, you will need to use setting triangles to square out the edges of the quilt into a panel with straight edges, To make matters harder, the outer (long) edges of these setting triangle should be cut on the straight grain to prevent stretching and distortion on the outer edges of the quilt. This might not be hard if you have a pattern with correct measurements or templates but can leave you frustrated if you are working with your own blocks or customizing other quilt blocks. I will teach you the formula for how to calculate the correct sizes for either edge on setting triangles and make cutting them easy. In class you will make a short panel consisting of 4-Patch blocks on point with setting triangles. This panel can be the starting point for a lovely quilt if you wish.
