Renaissance / Classic Dress Making Class
The time is coming soon when we will all venture out to our favorite Renaissance Fairs and enjoy fabulous food, events and crafts.
Wouldn’t it be wonderful to have a new period appropriate dress to wear that fit’s you perfectly, is exactly the right color, made from fabric that you love and has adornments picked by you?
Join me, starting on Tuesday September 17th, for 3 sessions where you will create a beautiful Renaissance style dress and learn several dress making techniques.
Some of you might be interested in this class but maybe not the Renaissance style dress. I have listed below alternative pattern choices if you prefer to work on a more modern style of dress that has the same types of technique requirements.
Vogue 1737, Simplicity 9473 or Simplicity 9294
We will begin with taking your measurements, transfer those to the pattern, make a “muslin” to further perfect the fit of the dress. We will then lay out the pattern, cut and mark and finally begin to stitch your beautiful dress together. During this class you will learn some basic flat pattern alterations, many different hand stitching, hemming and lacing techniques, how to work with different fabrics and most importantly how to sew a garment that looks professionally made and fits you to a tee.

Cancellation & Refund Policy
Class, club, and event fees are nonrefundable. You must cancel 72 hours before the first session of the class, club, or event to receive store credit or apply the fee to another class, club or event. However, if the instructor or Montavilla Sewing Centers has to cancel a class, club, or event, you have the option for a store credit or full refund. Students must bring their own machines to all classes, unless otherwise noted. We request that you do not bring children or guests to the classes. Thank you!
