Teens Sewing Sustainably
This 4-session summer course is designed for teens (ages 13-19), wanting to have fun designing and sewing projects that are eco-friendly. The course will kick off with a brief introduction to what sustainable fashion is, and inspire you how to create Upcycled fashion products. Let Jayne, recently retired high school sewing instructor & Palmer Pletsch Certified, guide you in the design & construction of your own projects.
- Day 1 - Sewing Basics, Pick Projects & Materials
- Day 2 - Apron Project (Utility or Button Down Shirt)
- Day 3 - Bag Project (String Pak, Cross Body or Tote)
- Day 4 - Finish Projects
View examples of possible projects (pictured), on display in the Portland store. Little sewing experience is necessary, students bring their own machines to class and know basic operation, how to thread & wind a bobbin. Contact teacher to make arrangements to borrow a machine if needed. Jayne will email you prior to class about projects materials & equipment needs. Kits will be available to purchase.
