"The Longest Day" Charity Sew-In
The Longest Day is the day with the most light — the summer solstice. On June 21, thousands of participants from across the world come together to fight the darkness of Alzheimer's through an activity of their choice. Together, we will use our creativity and passion to raise funds and awareness for the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association. Please join us!
Our activity for this day will be to sew together small lap "fidget" quilts that help to stimulate and entertain loved ones with this debilitating affliction.
You can help in one (or both) of these ways:
- Join our activity by donating (registering) on the Alzheimer's website (visit www.montavillasewing.com/thelongestday, click the purple "Donate" button on the left) and come sew with us! Signing up here will also help us plan our classroom space accordingly.
- Donate components that will be used in the assembly of the quilts (textured fabric, large bells, small stuffed toys, cording, etc.). You can drop them off at any of our locations.
Stop by our Lake Oswego store to see a sample quilt to get ideas of the items that can be incorporated into a quilt.
See you on The Longest Day!
