Fit and Sew Custom Jeans
Jeans are fun to sew when you have a system. Learn how to get the look and fit you want, to make your comfiest pair. Your instructor, Helen Bartley, pant fitting expert and author of Fit and Sew Custom Jeans, will guide you through four sessions of fitting and sewing your best jeans.
Learn how to achieve the look and fit you want. You will learn how to choose the best pattern size based on your fit needs and your fabric. See jeans in many fabrics and styles, bootcut to boyfriend to skinny, and learn about fabric selection, preshrinking and notions needed. Whether your figure type is full, petite, or curvy, we will focus on fitting YOUR body.

You will learn how to alter your pattern and to fit as you sew. Helen will demonstrate sewing all the jeans pockets, traditional jeans fly zipper, threads and techniques for topstitching, waistbands, belt carriers, button, buttonholes, and rivets.

For your convenience, Helen offers a kit for sale that includes pattern, preshrunk denim, PerfectFuse Medium interfacing for waistband, PerfectFuse Sheer interfacing for stabilizing, threads, zipper, and hardware-everything you need to sew your perfect jeans for $95.00. Anyone with strong intermediate sewing skills can sew great jeans. Some sewing homework will be assigned after each class.

Cancellation & Refund Policy
Class, club, and event fees are nonrefundable. You must cancel 72 hours before the first session of the class, club, or event to receive store credit or apply the fee to another class, club or event. However, if the instructor or Montavilla Sewing Centers has to cancel a class, club, or event, you have the option for a store credit or full refund. Students must bring their own machines to all classes, unless otherwise noted. We request that you do not bring children or guests to the classes. Thank you!
