How to Teach Sewing

Elizabeth learned to sew at age 11 and has been sewing ever since. She began sewing professionally when she realized she could work from a home studio as a stay-at-home mom. She has been an active member of the Association of Sewing and Design Professionals since 1991 and completed the Master of Sewing and Design Certificate in 2018.
Elizabeth teaches sewing to adults and children aged 7 and up. She uses a project-based curriculum honed over 20 years of teaching, with options for a wide variety of ages and abilities. Her professional experiences include:
- Operating Summer Fun Sewing Camps for kids and teens for over 20 years.
- Teaching adult sewing classes at a premier Portland fabric store for over 10 years and developing a full schedule of classes ranging from basic to advanced.
- Teaching Apparel Construction for several years as an adjunct instructor at George Fox University.
- Creating and operating sewing activities for young, traumatized kids to experience the joy of sewing success at Royal Family Kids Camps

Cancellation & Refund Policy
Class, club, and event fees are nonrefundable. You must cancel 72 hours before the first session of the class, club, or event to receive store credit or apply the fee to another class, club or event. However, if the instructor or Montavilla Sewing Centers has to cancel a class, club, or event, you have the option for a store credit or full refund. Students must bring their own machines to all classes, unless otherwise noted. We request that you do not bring children or guests to the classes. Thank you!
