Prairie Point Pointers
Led by Helene Knott
What are Prairie Points? If you are new to quilting, you might never have heard of them before; they are a classic technique to create a textured perimeter to a quilt or other fiber art objects like a tote bag or a vest, but they can also be tucked into seams between borders for an interesting dimensional effect. In this class, you will learn three methods of making and applying Prairie Points, folding them in two different ways and tucking them into seams or arranging them on the perimeter of a quilt. They are particularly fun to add to place mats, table runners, and baby quilts, but have also found interest from fiber artists looking for embellishments to ‘raise the surface’ of their work. In class, you will apply borders, Prairie Points, and layer/turn the quilt; no quilting will be done in class.
