Quilting to Dye
Led by Helene Knott
This class will introduce you to a new approach to quilting. An image is drawn or traced onto a subtle patterned fabric and then colored in or painted with textile paints, after which the stitching is carried out in a dark color much like a pen and ink drawing. You do not need to be a master quilter to do this, you will be tracing a design drawn on fabric with your sewing machine. There will be a variety of design subjects to choose from, including one based on Contour Drawing should you wish to explore that technique; or you can create or find your own design of choice. Please note that some of the examples may show stitching and coloring on collaged and pieced backgrounds, in class you will practice this method on a single layered piece of fabric.

Class, club, and event fees are nonrefundable. You must cancel 72 hours before the first session of the class, club, or event to receive store credit or apply the fee to another class, club or event. However, if the instructor or Montavilla Sewing Centers has to cancel a class, club, or event, you have the option for a store credit or full refund. Students must bring their own machines to all classes, unless otherwise noted. We request that you do not bring children or guests to the classes. Thank you!
