Art Quilt Techniques: Woven Textures

This project will take you back to childhood when you wove strips of construction paper to make a pretty but highly impractical ‘place mat’ for your mom. This time around, you will be working with fabrics to create a functional mat or a small wall hanging that can be stitched decoratively or embellished if you wish. The basic process creates a single, simple panel using two colors, or you can choose four colors to make two complex panels identical in pattern but with the colors reversed in each. Panels can be any size you wish, but something around 10” x 12” Or 12” square is recommended for a first-time project in this half-day class to learn the process. Once learned, this method is an awesome way to make larger 12” x 18” place mats, or even a table runner.

Class, club, and event fees are nonrefundable. You must cancel 72 hours before the first session of the class, club, or event to receive store credit or apply the fee to another class, club or event. However, if the instructor or Montavilla Sewing Centers has to cancel a class, club, or event, you have the option for a store credit or full refund. Students must bring their own machines to all classes, unless otherwise noted. We request that you do not bring children or guests to the classes. Thank you!
