Beginning Quilting: 4 Patch

Whether you're renewing your love of quilting, or quilting for the first time, Jayne will guide you through the basics of quilt assembly. This 2-session course of 3 hours each class is taught by Certified Palmer & Pletsch Sewing Instructor, Jayne Vetter. Jayne is a licensed Family & Consumer Science/Career & Technical Educator and has taught High School Textile & Design classes for over 30 years in the Portland area.

Day one will take you step-by-step through quilt design, rotary cutting, piecing, seaming and pressing as you recreate a totally new look to the traditional 4-patch quilt block. Jayne will provide fabric on day one for you to practice these skills. After the sample you will decide what type of 4-patch block you want, cut out your fabric for your desired # of blocks and start construction of blocks. Homework: Finish blocks at home.

On day two you will come to class with your 4-8 blocks ready to assemble for a small quilt project such as a placemat, pillow cover, table runner, wall hanging or to begin a quilt top. Learn to assemble quilt layers, machine quilt and add binding. See sample projects on display in the store.

Attendee: Confident beginner, new to quilting, or simply wants a refresher and/or learn a different approach.
