Faux-Sashed T-Shirt Quilt

Do you have T-Shirts full of memories???

If you can sew a straight line on a sewing machine, you can make a T-Shirt quilt. Let retired high school sewing instructor & Palmer Pletsch Certified Instructor, Jayne Vetter, guide you in the construction & completion of your own quilt full of memories. Complete the process in three 3-hour sessions and homework in-between classes.

This Faux-Sashed T-Shirt quilt (Finished quilt size 54” x 67.5” w/o borders) will have strips around half of the blocks to give it a sashed effect with less work. The angles of the strips give it a fun and playful look! Instructions will be provided, and you can design your quilt with desired sashing and borders. If you prefer the “Quilt as You Go” method that will be explain and instructions will be provided. Walking foot quilting will be explained and demonstrated.

Day 1:

• Choose & prepare T-Shirts, apply fusible stabilizer.
• Traditional method: Cut & add sashing.
• QAYG method: Cut batting & backing for t-shirt blocks to quilt.

Day 2:

• Traditional method: Finish assembly of quilt top, prepare for quilting.
• QAYG method: Cut sashing, join blocks, quilt sashing, cut & attach borders, quilt border.

Day 3:

• Binding
• Optional: Sew T-shirt bits & pieces into a pillow case/cover.

Homework: Time in-between classes should be used to finish up what is started in class.

NOTE: Make necessary yardage adjustments should you desire a bigger finished quilt, bigger or smaller blocks, borders, full Sashing or NO sashing.
