Feathered Friends
Led by Jayne Vetter
Feathered Friends includes FIVE projects and is a companion pattern to Stitcher's Suitcase (a future class). All projects can be completed with your sewing machine and using only a straight stitch. Projects include Zippered Bag Trio: Small 3 ½” H x 3 ½” W x 3 ½” D, Medium 6” H x 9” W x 3” D, Large 3 ½” H x 10” W x 7” D. Padded Bed Sleeve/Thread Catcher: 6” to 8 ½” H x 7 ½” to 9” W x ¼” to 1 ½” D. Vinyl-Topped Pad: 8” to 10” H x 15” to 18” W. Two design options included.
Prior experience making a “byAnnie” project is helpful but is not necessary. To complete these projects in two 4-hour sessions some homework will be involved. Jayne will email students with information about cutting and labeling all pieces prior to the first class.
CLASS AGENDA
- 1st class: Quilt & Construct the Medium Zippered Bag. Homework: Quilt Small Bag, Large Bag & Thread Catcher
- 2nd class: Construct the Thread Catcher and Vinyl-Topped Pad. “byAnnie” projects incorporate sewing with foam stabilizer, machine quilting, sewing zippers, installing snaps, preparing & attaching bias binding. The detailed instructions can be a little overwhelming, and Jayne will provide you with tips, tricks and short cuts. Let retired high school sewing instructor & Palmer Pletsch Certified Instructor, Jayne Vetter guide you in the construction & completion of these professional looking projects.
The Feathered Friends pattern is not included in the class fee but available for purchase at Montavilla Sewing Centers. The Cubicle Collective pattern includes similar projects and could be used in place of the Feathered Friends if desired. 15% class participant discount can be used to purchase pattern & materials for making this bag. Cancellation & Refund Policy
Class, club, and event fees are nonrefundable. You must cancel 72 hours before the first session of the class, club, or event to receive store credit or apply the fee to another class, club or event. However, if the instructor or Montavilla Sewing Centers has to cancel a class, club, or event, you have the option for a store credit or full refund. Students must bring their own machines to all classes, unless otherwise noted. We request that you do not bring children or guests to the classes. Thank you!
