Maker Backpack & Tote

This class (two sessions, 4-hours each) offers you the choice of making either the Making Backpack or the Maker’s Tote, both are Noodlehead Patterns. Both bags have many things in common, such as two size options, a zippered top, zippered pocket, foam stabilizer and bound seam construction.

MAKING BACKPACK: The square shape is easier to construct, front slip or zippered pleated pocket, adjustable shoulder straps and useful top handles. The interior has a zippered pocket and optional interior mesh pocket, Lining is sewn to outside and seams are bound on the inside of the bag with cross-grain binding.

Approx. Finished Dimensions:
Regular - 11 ½” wide x 15” tall x 5” deep
Mini - 8” wide x 10 ½” tall x 4 ½” deep

MAKER’S TOTE: Designed with handy on-the-go storage in mind. The outside of the bag features a patch pocket on one side and a zippered pocket on the other side. The interior has an optional zippered closure and four pleated slip pockets. The seams on the outside of the bag are all encased with bias binding.

Regular - 16” wide x 13” tall x 7 ½” deep
Small - 12” wide x 10” tall x 6” deep

Customize yours with quilting and/or embroidery, add additional pockets using mesh & fold-over elastic. Jayne will introduce techniques for working with materials such as: Foam Stabilizer, Waxed Canvas, Faux Leather, Cork & Kraft-Tex.

Skill Level: Intermediate

DAY 1: Attach foam stabilizer to outer fabric, prepare straps, zipper tab, handles, and pockets.

DAY 2: Attach lining to outer bag & bind seams.
