Making Patches Using FTCU
Led by Bernie Bonn
FTCU can be used to make an embroidered patch from any design you own. In this class you will learn to make a traditional patch and how to make patches that don’t look like patches. Why?
- Patches let you add embroidery without the risk of ruining the item you purchased to embroider on.
- Patches work on items that are impossible to hoop.
- Patches can be any shape and can have interesting borders, such as fringe.
- If a loop is added to a patch, it becomes a hanging ornament.
In this class you will learn to use the FTCU software to digitize two custom-shaped patches, including a design with text. Tips for sewing out the patch will be discussed, but nothing will be stitched in class. Prerequisites: a laptop with the most recent version of FTCU installed and knowledge of how to open the FTCU software and save a file. Experience using FTCU will be helpful, but is not required.
