Sewing Knits w/ Jayne
Sew a simple knit project (t-shirt, dress, skirt, joggers, sweatshirt, sweater, cardigan, etc.) of your choice. Learn the basics of choosing the right fabric and pattern, to special construction techniques that knit fabrics demand. Learn how to read a commercial pattern, follow a cutting layout and apply knit sewing techniques with or without a Serger. All you need is a good working sewing machine with stretch stitch and/or zig zag stitch to replicate the commercial serged seam. Complete samples that include basic seaming, stabilizing, neck & edge finishes, & hemming. By the end of the class, you’ll have Incorporated these techniques into your chosen simple knit sewing project!
This 4-session course of 3 hours each class is taught by Certified Palmer & Pletsch Sewing Instructor, Jayne Vetter. Jayne is a licensed Family & Consumer Science/Career & Technical Educator and has taught High School Textile & Design classes for over 30 years in the Portland area.

Skill Level: This class is for the confident beginner who is comfortable with the operation of their sewing machine.
Recommended Prerequisite: Beginning Sewing 1 w/Jayne. Homework: Finishing any work not completed during class time. What is NOT covered by Class Fee: $5.00 Kit Fee (sample materials & handouts) payable to Jayne at first class. Student must supply commercial pattern, fabric & notions for their chosen project. Cancellation & Refund Policy
Class, club, and event fees are nonrefundable. You must cancel 72 hours before the first session of the class, club, or event to receive store credit or apply the fee to another class, club or event. However, if the instructor or Montavilla Sewing Centers has to cancel a class, club, or event, you have the option for a store credit or full refund. Students must bring their own machines to all classes, unless otherwise noted. We request that you do not bring children or guests to the classes. Thank you!
