Sewing Sustainably

Have fun sewing eco-friendly projects that give new life to used textile products and keep textiles out of the landfill.

This course will kick off with a brief introduction to sustainable fashion terminology and inspire you to create upcycled fashion products.

Let Jayne, retired high school Family & Consumer Science/Career & Technical Educator & Certified Palmer & Pletsch Sewing Instructor, guide you to reimagine, restyle & reconstruct your project. Make any of the items pictured or something else with your own materials. Upcycled materials that I incorporated into the pictured projects include Surplus Canvas, Men’s neck ties, Men’s Button-Down Shirt, embroidered handkerchief, Jeans, Belts, Upholstery Samples, etc.

Some sewing experience and familiarity with your machine are necessary. Jayne will email you prior to class to find out your project interest. Kits available to purchase for items pictured.
