Town Square Quilt
This is a two-session class for confident beginning quilters who want to practice their skills in a classroom setting. Town Square is an easy and satisfying pattern, using only 3 yards of fabric. Purchase the pattern at Montavilla Sewing Center in Lake Oswego.
In Session One we'll spend most of the time cutting fabric. We'll sew at least one block during class so students can continue sewing at home. In Session Two, bring your assembled quilt top and attach the borders. Depending on how far along students are, you'll prepare the quilt sandwich and discuss methods of basting, quilting and binding.
Please bring your sewing machine in perfect working condition and be familiar with its functions; threading, winding and changing the bobbin, sewing a consistent quarter inch seam and needle positioning.
Supply List
- Town Square Quilt pattern*
- For the Quilt Top and Binding: 3 coordinating fabrics of 3, 1 yard cuts*
- For the Backing: 3 yards of fabric*
- Twin-size batting*
- Rotary cutter (45mm or 65mm)
- Cutting mat (18" x 24" or larger)
- Rulers (6" x 24" and 6.5" x 12" are good options)
- Basic sewing supplies (pins, scissors, needles, thread, seam ripper, etc)
- Quarter inch foot (optional)
- Sewing machine in perfect working condition. Or borrow one of our classroom machines. If you'd like to borrow one of our machines, please make an appointment to come in for a short lesson prior to the class.

Cancellation & Refund Policy
Class, club, and event fees are nonrefundable. You must cancel 72 hours before the first session of the class, club, or event to receive store credit or apply the fee to another class, club or event. However, if the instructor or Montavilla Sewing Centers has to cancel a class, club, or event, you have the option for a store credit or full refund. Students must bring their own machines to all classes, unless otherwise noted. We request that you do not bring children or guests to the classes. Thank you!
